On tap at On The rocks Tavern (Lleida). Dark rubi colour with a medium beige head with a short to medium duration. Aroma is dark sugar, toasty and nutty. Flavor is sweet, with dried fruits presence, malty and a moderate caramel. Low sensation to alcohol in spite of its 8%. The final is light bittery and sweet with a medium duration. Carbonation is low to medium. Body is medium to high.

Bottled, 0.33l. Clear ruby brown color with small frothy brownish head and lively visible carbonation. Aroma of caramel, alcohol, vanilla, light hops and prunes. Taste starts with sweet malt and dried fruits, then followed lightly roasted. Mouthfeel is really warm and mouth-coating. Finish has no surprises; still sweet malt and strong alcohol note, while some spiciness and hidden bitterness is present, too. Full body, sticky texture and soft carbonation in palate. A bit to sweet for my taste, but still quite drinkable at right temperature...

Peaty tart/sour taste. Brown/orange color with slightly oily mouthfeel. This is a different animal, especially from Belgium. Interesting....

Bottle. Pours darkest brown with off white head. Nose/taste of caramel, malt, sweet malt, candi sugar, grain, light smoke and toffee. Medium body. Finishes grainy sweet malt and candi sugar.

Als vorerst letztes Gordon-Bier kam 2012 das Scotch Highland Ale dran.
Ein belgisches Strong Ale nach schottischen Vorbild gebraut, aber von einer Fasslagerung konnte ich nichts lesen.
Es hat dennoch trofige, erdige Aromen und natürlich einen alkoholisch-fruchtigen Kern. Der Zucker ist auch da und mildert den Alkohol etwas ab.
Damals war es mir zu brutal, heute würde ich es im vorderen Mittelfeld sehen.

Nov 2009: Brown 33cl bottle, best before 11th Jun 2011 and poured into one of its own Thistle shaped glasses. It looked ’the business’, a full off-white head sat on top of the reddy-brown, ruby-mahogany body. The body was clear and see-through. Malty molasses, giving off a toffee style aroma is all my nose could pick up, nice! Sweet, turning drier in the aftertaste. The alcohol is very evident, the toffee and molasess try to mask it, but just about fail to do so. Black treacle on brown toast with a richness from a well buttered malt loaf sort of taste. Far too drinkable for such a strong beer (my bottle claimed 8.0%ABV).

Bottle. Pale amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is malt, fruit, berries. Flvaour is sweet, malt, alcohol, berries, sugar, butterscotsch. Ordinary beer.
