5 litre mini-cask at home. Pours a bright honey colour with a very big head that needs to be topped up a couple of times. Nose is hay with a hint of nettles or maybe wild herbs. Taste is more of the hay, some nuttiness and maybe some mild nettles in the finish. Palate is medium bodied, nicely textured and reasonably clean on the end. Overall very well balanced if not the most exciting beer in the world. Stewart’s beers tend to be for drinking and sessionability is a major aspect of it. I could drink a few and will since I hav a mini-cask. P.S. I’d like to disagree with many fellow raters who seem to think that mini-casks are great. I’d be amazed if anyone ever got anything like 5 litres out of them - usually lose a quarter pint through the air hole at the top and the necessity to continually top up as well as not being able to get at the last half pint means you are lucky to get 4.5 litres out of it. For real cask experience, go to the pub. For better value, buy in bottle if possible.

Cask @ Kay’s Bar, Edinburgh. Hazy copper colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma is vegetables, bit hoppy. Flavour is light malted, lemonade. Easy drinkable, a bit light bodied.
