Bottle at home ... golden amber big short lived head ... bready nose some corriander... caramel and fruit ... quite citrus ... decent enough

Clear copper-amber bere, with a huge, fluffy yellowish head. Coriander, orange/citruspeel, white candi sugar and alcohol in the nose. Dry-bitterish, citrussy; less coriander than in the nose, caramel and cookies. Slightly burning MF,well-bodied, but high attenuation. Van Steenberge is rarely bad. And rarely original.

On tap at Waterhuis, Gent. There was a fair amount of this left on the table from the Babblebelt, so I guess not many people liked it. Belgian bready yeast aroma. Over carbonated. It’s ok, just fairly basic.

[i] On Tap at Het Waterhuis an de Bierkant, Gent 07-12-07 [/i] Rich golden barley coloured beer with very little head, this was the second of the house beers that this establishment brew, I spoke to one of the main guys behind the bar who told me that they actually go and get involved in the brewing of these two beers. This beer whilst very good wasn’t as good as the other house beer the excellent Gandavum but nonetheless it had plenty to offer. Coming across initially as a lovely sticky treacly syrupy beer that despite it’s strength never really comes across as being such a big hitter. A smooth big beer that demands respect, ok so it’s quite sweet and even maybe a tad predictable but on a cold, windy wet day its most welcome.
