Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel, as well as lighter notes of elderberries. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and alcohol. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

A grandiose thanks goes out to mtoast for this special brew and for the locale! Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 7/9/2009 Pittsburgh RB tasting extravaganza (PGHRBEXT) at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse, again courtesy of mtost. It will be a long time, if ever I see a spread of bottles like I did there. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we served! For example, how about this beer; Roeland! Its not even available in the US yet here it is for me to taste, WOW! Very lively looking pale lager appearance. Nice head. Smell is slightly tart but mostly sweet. First taste is wew strong but it is tempered with a delicate sweetness that is welcomed. Perhaps some pepper in there as well. Overall decent 11% beer with a flavor that tempers the alky content. Hides the 11% in a friendly manner. Much better than I expected for an 11%. Good carbonation helps make this a drinkable brew for its alky content. Good beer experience.

An interesting beer that I got to try at a Pittsburgh area Ratebeer gathering. Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a medium yellow-golden color with a small white soapy head. The aroma was sweet, tangy and had a light citrus element. The flavor was tangy, tart, sugary and yeasty with light ripe fruits throughout. The finish was long, tart and fruity. Moderately thick but there was an alcohol presence that showed through a bit too much. Nice.

Not the most complex of beers. Very strong - sit close to the floor. Stop at one. Or zero. With so many other good beers at the Wateruis, skip this one.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Slightly hazy golden with a tall and lively bubbly head. Aroma of fruit and yeast. Full-bodied with lots of fruit, phenols and yeast and a very heavy carbonation. Some alcohol in the finish, but doesn’t really appear to be 11.5% ABV. 100908

Bottle, 11.5%. Weak spicy aroma. Cloudy orange colour. Small white head. Sweet flavour, slightly spicy. High carbonation. Quite peppery, but not as much as expected. Slightly rough hop and alcohol finish.
