Our sweet black currant mead, Black Agnes, is named after one boisterous Scottish wench who successfully defended the Scottish Castle of Dunbar during a five-month siege by William Montague, the Earl of Salisbury. While relatively unknown in the United States, black currants have been grown in the British Isles for more than five hundred years, and used by herbalists since the Middle Ages. Sharply tart and acidic, the potent flavors of the fruit are perfectly balanced by the sweetness of premium honey to create a particularly unique, memorable and delicious mead.

Flaska från Bier Bazaar, batch 15. Mörk rödlila. Ganska pang-på och rejäl svarta vinbärston, hög syltighet, samtidigt bra bärsyra och viss stramhet från bärskal. Syra som hänger kvar lite mer än vanligt för Schramm’s. Mycket av allt, potent men någorlunda balanserad.

Bottle. Super thanks to John for the share! Pours deep purple. Aroma is field honey, berries, blackberry. Flavor is super sweet, full of fruits, pungent honey. Merlin body.

Oooo batch 14 tasting mighty fruity, lighter mouthfeel upfront than expected, with a black currant kick on the finish. Too damn delicious.

bottle at home... too bloody expensive at £45 for 375 for something very like undiluted ribena... deep fruit.. b8g blackcurrant... rich sweet berries... big soft sweet berries.. juicy fruits but minus couple of points as price vs reward is off

Still haven't tasted a fresh black currant but this is how I like to imagine it. It's jammy sweetness as always but tastes real real fresh here.

2022/12/27, still super fresh currant flavor in this batch, so good.
