Cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a dark chocolate with a small off-white head and good lacing. Malts to the fore in the aroma plus hints of caramel In the mouth it is sweet and fruity but with some underlying bitterness. Hints of autumn fruits from the start, and laters some traditional hops, toffee and treacle too leading to a slightly bitter finish. It’s entirely reasonable though a little unusual – more like a hoppy mild than a bitter ?

24-27/10/2023. From cask at the 45th Norwich Beer Festival. Pours clear dark chestnut brown with a small frothy off-white head. Good looking beer. Aroma is malty, fruity, light chocolate, berries, nut. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, oily and watery, average to soft carbonation. Dry and slightly bitter finish. Quite okay.

Cask handpull at Lower Red Lion, St Albans. Quite a malty toffeeish beer. You know what? I rather like it. Good hops on end. Bit of choc. Something like a chocolate lime.
