Aroma of roasted malts, strong wood notes, peat, dark fruits, coffee, booze, leather, some liquorice notes. Flavour is roasty, moderate to medium sweet, quite noticeable alcohol, with a bittersweet finish. Quite complex and tasty, but I liked this less than the other BA’s in this series, probably because of the booziness.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Slightly roasty, chocolately, dark malty as well as caramel malty aroma, leathery hints of BA support, notes of dark caramel, chocolate, vanilla, leather, a touch of cinnamon, vinous fruity hints of blue grapes, liquorice overtones. Taste is dry and sweet-ish, roasty, chocolately dark and caramel malty, hints of chocolate, caramel, some cocoa, leather, vinous fruity hints of blue grapes, some vanilla, even a touch of cinnamon, whiffs of fresh oak. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, very fine, soft carbonation. Mild, round, not completely harmonious - relatively easy drinkable.

Pours black with some dark red hues and a brown medium head. Aromas of apple jam/baked apples, cinnamon, slight roast, lots of cocoa, notes of moulding clay, slightly boozy. Taste is pretty fruity up front, apple pie, cinnamon, slight roast, some malt and some dark chocolate.

Dark brown color. Thin white head. Lots of iodine, mint, whiskey, ume skins, plums and some chocolate in the nose. Very smooth mouth, dry, with iodine and oak dominating. Low alcoholic burn on the tounge. Warming burning finish. The more I drink the more I like this.

Pours dark brown, almost black. Beige foam, not too much of it though. Liquorice and some sweet liquor in the aroma, bit of booze. Interesting. Taste. Oh, the taste. There is some sweet hard liquor in the front, sweet and alcoholic. And then I start licking ashy wood. Lots of oak, basically an orchard of oaks that was burnt down last year and had some rain and some snow since then - and tin this bottle you can find what was left of the trees. As an element in beer it works great, so strong barrel that it really dominates - but is still drinkable. Not usual but well, I don’t really want to drink usual.

Bottle from ABC beers. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is light medicinal, peaty alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich, strong, oily, roasty, light fruit, alcohol liqourice bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle thanks to Danny in Richmondo. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is rich, bitter - sweet, dark fruits, jammy, Eccles cake, fruit cake, raisin, vanilla, toffee, whisky and sultana. The taste is bitter, chewy, fruit cake, raisins, dried fruits, warming alcohol, vanilla, toffee, whisky and earth with a warming finish. Medium - full body and average carbonation. Works pretty well overall. Mighty decent.

Bottle shared in Richmond - big thanks to Daniel. Pours rich black-brown with a creamy tan head. The aroma holds lots of torched wood, scorched earth, dry cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with some nice peat notes, more burnt earth, dried dark fruits, berries, cocoa. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Warming finish with pleasant smoked dark malts, peat, more dried dark fruits, earth. Enjoyable beer.
