Een combinatie van een Helles Weizenbock en een rauchbier. Hierdoor ontstaat een mild fruitig bier met weizenelementen als banaan en kruidnagel en spekachtige rooktonen. Te vergelijken met fruit van de BBQ. De rooksmaak komt van de mout uit Duitsland die niet met hete lucht wordt geëest, maar met rook van beukenhout.
Naam
Jopen Witte Rook is het eerste officiële brouwsel (na het testbrouwsel Schwarze Hell) gebrouwen in de Jopenkerk Haarlem. Het eerste brouwsel van het nieuwe jaar is standaard Witte Rook. De naam verwijst naar de keuze van een nieuwe Paus. Als deze gekozen is, komt er witte rook uit de schoorsteen van het Vaticaan.

Van de tap gedronken bij Gollem’s proeflokaal op de Overtoom. Inderdaad een lichte rooksmaak, maar niet echt boeiend. Kleur is mooi, aroma matig, schuim ok. Geen topper.

Tap at Jopen Waarderpolder. Hazy golden with white head. Lots of smoke, ham, honey, sweet malts, apricot, soft flowers and lemon peel. Medium sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied with creamy feel. Too smoky for me.

Sampled from tap at ’Jopen Proeflokaal Waarderpolder’. Slightly hazy, golden yellow with a white head. Sweetish, very smoky and a little fruity aroma of lots of smoked eel, campfire, wheat and a bit of citrus. Sweetish, very smoky and a little fruity taste of lots of smoked eel, campfire, wheat and citrus, followed by a short, quite smoky, slightly bitter finish. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Very nice stuff!

Tap at Jopen Proeflokaal at the edge of Haarlem. Hazy golden with white head. Smoked malts, smoked sausage, barley, caramel. Very nice. Over medium sweet and moderate smokey bitter. Draught at Taphouse. Mild smokey aroma. Cloudy golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is sweetish and smokey. A salty sort of campfire smoke. Quite malty and a little sweet. Hint of ctirc smoke as well, but not too bad.
