Winter Solstice® is our take on the classic style of “winter warmer.” Boasting a deep amber hue and rich mouthfeel, its creamy finish will lift your spirits. Hints of toffee, spice, and caramel tease the senses making this the perfect ale to share with friends and family during the cold days and long nights of winter.

(Keg at Black Door, 20131213) The beer poured ruby red and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, oxidised malts, berries and bitterness. Aftertaste had oxidised malts and low bitterness. A beer that had gone beyond its prime a long ago.

Deep ruby color, small off-white head. Caramel-ryiesh aroma. Medium-bodied. Rye, caramel and grainy-cardboardish notes. Not giving very fresh feeling.

Flavor is also heavy on malt, mild spices, bit of fruit cake but nothing really strong. Feel doesn't leave quite an impression

Fra flaske på DSJT Cardinal nov-13: en god krydderaroma stiger opp fra glasset, men smaken har en litt pussig krydderaktig søtsmak som jeg ikke får helt tak på. Den skal ilfg vakseseddelen "add warmth to even the coldest and darkest of winter’s days". Den varmer ikke denne skrotten, til det har den for lavt vitamininnhold.

Bottle: Copper coloured. A bit hazy, small off-white foamy layer, sweet dried fruits and caramel and x-mas spices in the nose; moderate to solid sweet flavour, medium to full bodied; sweet caramelly finish, "ornated" by some cinnamon and other christmas spices. Not my cup of tea…

355ml bottle @ Cardinal. Unclear reddish amber body with a nice, medium sized, foamy off-white head. Nice aroma with caramel malt, dry fruit and Christmas spices. Flavor is sweet, smooth malt, caramel, spices, particular cinnamon, a hint of liquorice and red berries. Not very strong in spices, but well composed, a bit weak in bitterness. Fine and balanced body, nice aftertaste. More spices appears in aftertaste. Nice spicy one without overdoing anything.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Nice aroma of malts (including some caramel) and mild spices, including cinnamon. Also some fruity notes (blackcurrants and ripe blackberries). None of the aroma elements are overdone. The flavour is first fruity (hints of blackcurrants and blackberries again) and malty with some caramel, but not too sweet. The Christmas spices come through more distinctly, but not sharp. The bittering hops are very moderate (too moderate for my taste), probably making the beer palatable for people who don’t fancy AVBC’s hoppier beers. Easy drinking, and does not taste as strong as it is.
