Maybe you feel it already, when the cap is removed and you put your nose to the bottle - this " Stout " smells different than what you are accustomed to. We have dry hopped this stout in the late stages of fermentation using the American noble varieties of Nugget , Centennial and Cascade, which allow the floral tones that make this a characteristic Stout - flavours of roasted malt give both lightness and freshness.
The glass appears Sundby Stout black , while the head is tight, light brown and almost cappuccino creamy, the tongue senses both malt sweetness, hints of bitter dark chocolate and English liquorice. Sweetness, however, cleverly balances the hard roasted malt and the split , umalted and roasted barley , which both help to give beer its roasted flavor. Sundby Stout is a classic " Stout ", which nonetheless dares to be different and challenge convention.

50 cl. bottle from SuperBest, Tårnby. Batch # 854. Pitch black with a thin, bubbly lightly tanned head. Roasted aroma with hard roasted malts, liquorice, dark, bitter chocolate, floral and herbal hops. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Long lasting roasted and bitter finish with liquorice and dark malts. Really nice Stout, very delicious.

How how this has a fine subtle dark stout color with a nice thick off white head. Really nice! Good lacing. Typical stout aroma with dark malt and some roasted notes. Medium body, with a moderate sweetness, and a moderate bitterness. Soft to average carbonation. A bit dry texture. Still a quite typical and fine stout. Well I have already tasted it, otherwise I could not describe the body etc. That is why I write a fine stout. Nothing special and innovative with this one. But why should it? The flavor are also typical for a fine and tasty stout. Dark malt and roasted. So if you are in for a stout. Try this one!

50 cl van de Molen beershop, batch #165, schenkt als bruin maar oogt als zwart met minimale bruine kraag. aroma is goed complex van stevige moutigheid (caramout, gebrande- en geroosterde mouten), chocolade en koffie ! Yes alles zit er weer in .... smaken zijn redelijk zoet, matig tot een redelijk (hop)bittertje, sterk/zeer sterk, lichte fruitigheid van bv rozijn, sterke moutigheid van caramouten, geroosterde- en gebrande mouten, redelijke kruidige tonen. koffie en chocolade, ondanks de moutigheid en chocolade toch een vrij matige body, met een dunne zelfs ietwat waterig mondgevoel, hé dat is wat jammer. afdronk is koffie bitter

Bottle at t’Klooster, Delft. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin round head. The aroma is rich malt, dark chocolate, coffee, liqourice. The flavour is medium bitter with a smooth malt, hop liqourice bitter palate and a short bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle 500ml @ Haakonm Pours reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and bread. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a roasted, chocolate and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft

Bottle at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 03/19/2011 courtesy of dkachur. Dark black body with ruby highlights and a small creamy tan head. Sweet chocolate roast and caramel aroma. Sweet chocolate, roast, creasote, and caramel flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.
