Bottle 750ml. @ chriso s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011.Light unclear medium orange colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity, moderate yeasty, peach, peppery. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, peppery, fruity - pineapple - tropical fruit, citrus. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20110730]

Bottle at chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig ’11. It pours hazy orange, with a massive foamy off-white head. The nose is rye bread, yeast and pineapple. The taste is bread, yeast, pineapple, orange zest and pith, pear, peach, grass, slight sourness and herbs in the finish. Medium body and high carbonation. Interesting stuff.

Bottle at Chris O’s pre GBBF shindig. Cloudy orange pour with a white head. Nuts, citrus and barley sugar aroma. Fresh fruit attack in the flavour, a spot of pineapple in there. Crisp fruit finish. Dry. Quite nice.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours hazy gold with a foamy, white head. Some dough and yeast in the aroma. Sweet flavor, slight grass, mild funk. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Mild bitter finish, slight funkiness, grass. Very clean. Nice.

Courtesy of Sledutah, thanks Craig. Pours dark murky grapefruit juice with off white head. The aroma is dirty earthy tartness, apples, pears, spicy yeast and dried up apricot slices. The taste starts tart and quickly picks up a pleasing level of dirty earthiness and then running into tart grapefruit and some lemon like acidity. It ends with dirty gravel earthiness and apple which come together to make a pleasing finish.

Grainy, malty, bready aroma with curacao and pencil shaving accents. Cloudy copper, large floaties, huge yellow lacing head. Cane sugary sweet, maraschino cherry flavor. I was very intrigued by this beer, but it turned out to be a rather cloying mess. Had it tasted like its aroma led me to believe it would I would have loved it. I probably am exaggerating just a little, but it is too sweet, seriously.

750 ml corked and capped bottle into tumbler. Thanks for the Christmas present, Brenn79! Pours a murky orangeish brown with a medium head with nice retention. Aroma is a bit skunky when I first pull the cork out (damn green frickin glass). It disappears pretty quick, though. What’s left is tangy Brett, faint grain. Taste starts out a little sweet but remains sour for the duration of the drink. A nice tart flavor is left on the tongue long aftert the swallow. Has a nice peppery taste. Also has some cheese and floral notes. Medium-full body and highly carbonated. A nice saison (the category this beer should be listed under on here). Rerate: downgraded the appearance; looks almost flat after sitting for awhile.

Bottle: Dark amber pour with a finger of creamy sand colored head. Aroma is heavily spiced, dominated by cloves. Creamy mouthful isn’t as spice forward as the aroma would suggest. Malt, light florals, hints of grass, yeast, and spices. Didn’t really get any sweetness here, mostly dry florals, barnyard, and spices. Different than other Fantomes I’ve had. Ok overall.
