27th October 2008. Cloudy brown beer. A pleasant citrus sour start rapidly mutates in to a very dry and slightly spicy beer. The ending is suprisingly watery for it’s abv making this beer slightly hard work. Original Rating 2.5
19th October 2012
THE Sour and Saison tasting. Cloudy amber beer, good cream - tan head. Light palate, a little soft. Mild carbonation. Light fruity tang underneath medium smoke. Semi soft finish with an earth aftertaste then a little fresh black pepper.

750 ml capped and corked bottle generously sent to me by alagnak. Pour is a cloudy murky brown burnt orange with a minimal off white head. It was striking just how murky this beer was from start to finish - I had made a point to keep it settled, and was expecting at least the first pour to be less clouded. Aroma of dusty dry straw, some herbal medicinal sweetness and the Fantôme yeast. Actually fairly subdued by Fantôme standards. Taste is a grainy, slight smoke, herbal and citric sweet. The yeast takes over the finish with the herbal medicinal Fantôme flavors. Just a bizarre mix of flavors, jutting out all over the place. In many beers this wouldn’t work for me, but there is something about the yeast in the back that ties it all together. Weird, but compelling. Palate is medium to heavy, coats the mouth a bit, long yeasty finish - some mild alcohol notes in the back. Thanks for sending this my way Chris, much appreciated.

Hazy deep brown coloured body with ruby highlights and a thin tan head. Aroma of sour fruit, malt, chocolate, tart raisins and some funky must. Medium-bodied; Full chocolate taste with hardly andy fruit at all-odd combination! Aftertaste shows liquorice, anise, malt and chocolate. Overall, wierd but great to try! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 02-August-2005.

Bottle thanks to WeeHeavySD at Beachwood BBQ. Pours with a light brown head and a hazy hazlenut body with good lacing. Aroma is interesting, a bit metallic with notes of wine, pepper, sour, citrus and some berry jam and a touch of toffee malt. Taste is deeply malty with some jam, light sour and barnyard with a touch of citrus and currant. Lightly bubbley and dryish mouthfeel.

Bottle courtesy of darkguardian. Pours hazy dark caramel with off white head. Aroma is what you expect from a Fantome; sour funkiness. Tart and sour flavors stand out with some peppery taste coming through. Medium body with lively carbonation. Another quality brew from Fantome.

750 ml bottle, corked and capped, from Bottle Trek. Cloudy dark amber brown color with a tan head that climbed and died. Aroma has a touch of bret and dates or similar fruit. Near medium body with frothy, creamy carbonation. Flavor is a little roasted malt, a touch of sour funk, and something like dates, perhaps raisins. Finish is slightly tart, pretty dry, with woody notes. Really tasty.

Dark brown with a small white head. Aroma has leather, pepper and chocolate in a nice mix, with a little vineous alcohol note. Dry and roast flavour with a touch of wood and a tart finish. Weird in a good way and I loved it.
