On tap at 8 Degrees Plato Detroit pours an oily black with a ring of brown head. Nose of booze, molasses, licorice, inky, mild cake. Flavor has more complexity, pencil lead, pepper, ink, molasses, cake, mild smoke, coffee, some vanillin, lightly boozy. Full bodied, sticky finish.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 11/2015. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toffee, cream, spicy rye whiskey, toasted oak, light smoke, and roast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and rye whiskey barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toffee, cream, spicy rye whiskey, toasted oak, light smoke, and roast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate roasted bitterness and rye/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toffee, cream, spicy rye whiskey, toasted oak, light smoke, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and rye whiskey barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and spicy rye balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/oak bitterness as well. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding barrel aged imperial cream stout! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt ad rye whiskey barrel flavors; and very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle @ home via trade. Thanks to my pal in Michigan! Pours a black appearance with a thin brown head. The aroma is heavy booze and some fusels. Lots of whiskey, caramel, chocolate, some coconut. Smells fine besides the over powering booze. Medium full body. A touch of dark fruit. Some and tannins. A lot of chocolate and caramel. Pretty good.

Bottle [from trade with iggywh] @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized creamy medium brown colored head that lasts for a long time and leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, light to moderately roasty, good whiskey influence, some wood. Taste malts, light to moderately roasty, whiskey, a slight hint of sweetness, perhaps a touch of sweetish vanilla, some wood, bitter, lightly alcohol. Lingering wood and whiskey bitter in the finish. Medium body, creamy texture, suitable soft carbonation. Very nice beer.

12 oz bottle poured to shaker. Nice whiskey aroma, but booze doesn’t dominate the palate. Starts off on the palate with carbonation masking flavor (too cold). Flavors appear as it warms. Creamy vanilla and toffee. It’s not really complex but I like it (must admit: I’m a sucker for any whiskey/bourbon barrel beer that isn’t a booze bomb).
