Bottle [thanks Geoffrey!] @ home shared with Dutchdrebus to celibrate his 4000th rating. Opaque black color, full sized thick beige to light brown head that lasts for a long time and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, hops, lightly roasted malts, a hint of cocoa. Taste malts, roasted malts, hops, bitter, lightly warming alcohol and quite some (piney) bitter in the finish with a nice roasty touch. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Very nice indeed!

Pours a dark, dark brown-black, with thick, creamy, tan head that lasts and lasts. Very strong pine-hop aroma. Flavor is dominated by fresh, piney hops, with some burnt toast and coffee, even a bit of leather in there. The alcohol is a bit noticeable, too, as a touch of a boozy flavor. Very bitter finish and aftertaste. Indeed’s Midnight Ryder is one of my favorite black IPAs--this one isn’t quite up to that standard--yet.
