BOTTLE 25 CL as a gift from omhper. Clear ruby-brown, fast diminishing tan head. The aroma is fruity jammy caramel malts and salty cheesy smoke, just a touch of alcohol. The taste is medium sweet caramel malts with a good dose of earthy peat, just a touch of warming alcohol. Rich yet easy going down the throat. A good one.

Bottle, courtesy of the brewery. It’s a hazy chestnut colored beer with a minimal sized light beige head. The aroma is quite smoked and bonfire-ish, with dark dried fruits, caramel, some fruityness and a vague note of anise. It’s full-bodied, lightly warming and smooth on the palate. Caramel, peat, bonfire, smoked ham, prunes and figs, caramel sauce, bread crust and a good dash of brown sugar. Some bitterness detected. Lasting sweet and bonfire-ish finish.Sure a nice one, even though it’s not quite common to have a smoked barley wine. 170826

(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm, 29 April 2017) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, oaky nose with caramel, oak wood and dried fruit. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, oak wood, vinous hints of whisky and a gentle spicy bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite well balanced for its strength. Nice one.
