Using oats in the grist for this classic style of stout, the beer takes on a silky, creamy body with a smooth, milky, cocoa texture. Gentle bitterness and fresh cold-brew coffee notes complete this rounded, indulgent stout.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is slightly soft and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth dry dark malts, touch of roast. Unsweet dark chocolate. A little oaty smooth sweetness, not as much as I would have liked though. Light semi dry finish. It’s fine but ultimately just another stout.

Bottle from Fresh Fields Market, Croydon. It pours jet black with a thick, foamy light tan head. The aroma is rich roast, earthy, coffee grounds, cocoa, mild acidity and light liquorice. The taste is smooth, rich roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, salted liquorice, toasted oats, touch of smoke, charred wood, some acidity and earth with a dry, roasted finish. Medium+ body and fine, foamy carbonation. Rich, good body and well-rounded. Very nice indeed.

Bottle at home drunk on stout day 17/03/2016. Picked up from the brewery. Pitch black coloured pour with little deep reddy hues and lasting mid tan head. Attractive beer. Aroma is nice blend of rich dark choc with hints of black liquprice, woodland berries, hint of wood and smooth roast. Flavour is composed of woody roasted coffee, smooth, rich bitter dark choc, bitter liquorice, tangy berry. Palate is smooth, velvety, oats, slightly creamy. moderate carbonation. Lovely balance.
