Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "VanderGhinste Roodbruin".
The main ingredients of our Vanderghinste Roodbruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a top-fermented beer.
Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak barrels for 18 months, results in this specific West Flanders Red-brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Color coca cola.

Rica y disfrutable

From Spar, Ostend. A good selection of beers for a supermarket.
I don't remember trying this style of beer before.
Dark reddish brown. Roasted malts, a subtle dark vinegar , cherries and plum.
Lively carbonation.
Quite refreshing.
Really interesting stuff

Hey a sour ale. Actually a pretty good one too. Bottled, poured a nice brown with very little head. I liked it much better than the first sour ale I had.

Opaque dark red brown that's almost black with no head retention. Aromas are sour cherries, molasses, and anise with some dark malt. Flavors are like nose, mild sour with a little fruity sweet and just right carbonation. Medium bodied and finished follows flavors. Good but not great.

250 ml bottle, as VanderGhinste Oud Bruin, brewed at Brouwerij Bockor Kortrijk, BB date 06.06.2013, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Deep brownish red colour, moderate off-white head. Interesting sourish aroma of oak, farmhouse, red wine and red wine vinegar, spicy notes too. Medium sour and fairly sweet flavour, fruity and vinous notes, the hops are hardly noticeable.

Aroma of malt, caramel, berries, cherries, sour apples, a hint of oak. Flavour is both sweetish and sour, with the sourness being dominant. Surprisingly tasty.
