Donkere dagen is het 3e bier dat Brouwerij Eanske op de markt zette. Enschede is in het verleden meerdere malen getroffen door grote branden. Ter ere aan alle helden die deze branden hebben geblust en de stad weer hebben opgebouwd is dit bier gebrouwen. Dit bier is in Oktober 2014 op de markt gekomen. Het bier is van het type Imperial Schwarz. Het is een donker bier, licht gebrand met een milde bitterheid en zelfs nog een aangenaam zoetje.

33cl Bottle at home, bought at Van Alsem. Clear dark brown/near black pour with ring shaped white head. Aroma of rubber tires, plastics, metal, peat, match heads, medicinal notes, charcoal, ash, sawdust. Taste is very thin and non-sweet with a light to mild bitter. Body is thin and texture watery. Carbonation is as good as nonexistent. Finish is abrupt and very dry. Aftertaste reminds me of the cilinder shaped plain black ones in liquorice allsorts (Engelse drop). On tap at Winterbierfestival Wormer. Almost black colour, beige head. Aroma is sweet, liquorice, light fruity, laurel, roasted malts. Flavour is likewise, fairly sweet, some chocolate, bittersweet finish. Light to medium bodied. OK, but too sweet.

Bottle at home. Almost black with slight fizzy beige head that leaves some creamy looking bubbles. Taste has toast and roasted malts up front. light caramel, soft dried fruits, light herbs. Taste is light to medium sweet with light roasted bitter finish and light hoppy bitterness as well. Medium bodied with nice creamy feel. Like the balance here, and even though the beer is not really outspken the creamy feel really lifts this above blandness.

Sampled draft @ Tilburgs Bierfestival 2015. Dark brown, lighter mocha, creamy head. Nose is very syrupy, lightly metallic, heavy syrup, liquorish, dark fruit,… Taste is lightly metallic big plastic molasses, quite syrupy, heavy artificial syrup character with spirit, prunes,… Artificial body,… A bit odd but def. not entirely bad. Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Eanske Donkere Dagen ].[ Trade by Beerhunter111 ]. ABV: 7.5%. Clear dark dark red brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, toffee. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted bitter, toffee. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20141223]
