Borefts Beer Festival 7th edition day 1 25/09/2016. A reddy / deep amber coloured pour with a thin off white head. Aroma is big peaty smoked malts, phenols, bratwurst, seaweed. Flavour is composed of smoked sausage, maple glaze, nutty toffee malts, honey. Palate is airy carbonation, semi sweet. Good smoked.

Bottle at a tasting. Aroma is strongly smoky with lots of rich caramel malty complexity. However tasting reveals the most watery body there is. Other than that it is OK. Good.

Bottle at Café Abseits. Deep cloudy amber-reddish color with small bubbly head. Aroma is smoked malts, Weyermann style (wet dog and umami), but also sweetish malts. Taste is lightly smoked, a bit malty, also a bit fresh yeasty. Natural low carbonation. The smoke is gentle. Solid Rauchbier, but not over the top. Bottle, BB 10/17, thanks jonas, in May 2017. Whoa, this is nearly Fastenbier-like! All the attributes I?ve got last time are there, but they fit my palate better. Some extra smoked fish maybe. Very complex and very lecker at the same time. Great!

Bottle. Copper color. Aroma of smokey bacon and malt. Taste has smoke, caramel, bacon, malt and a little ripe fruit. Solid.

Sample from 77ships. Many thanks! Very complex woody, smoky nose. Campfire, smoked sausages, some caramel sweetness, light and easy drinkable. Very nice rauchbier!

330ml bottle. Moderately cloudy, reddish, dark amber colour with small, creamy, fairly lasting, minimalyl lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish, caramel malty and smoky aroma, a touch of peat, beech-wood, gammon. Taste is mildly smoky, slightly bitter, slightly nutty malty basis without remnant sweetness, a cautious touch of chalk and ashes; flat carbonation. Very well balanced, but the flat carbo cuts my enthusiasm substantially.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Slightly hazy amber colour, thin off-white head. Aroma of sweet smoked malts, toffee, beechwood smoke, some ham, nuts. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, caramel, toffee, smoked ham, smoke, nuts, light grassy, bitter finish. Light bodied, flat carbonation.
