A superbly balanced beer golden in appearance with peaty smoky aromas and smooth whisky flavours from peated malt. With a measure of English Whisky from St. George’s Distillery in Norfolk, it is rich in flavour and a superb after dinner drink.

Bottle at Pat’s birthday tasting at chriso’s. Pours clear gold with a medium, white head. Huge whiskey aroma with smokey notes. Medium sweet flavor, definite smokey whiskey, faint caramel. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Smokey finish, light wood, whiskey, meat, light honey. A pretty well balanced whiskey beer on the whole.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear golden with a rough white head. Heavy peaty iodine in the nose. Medium body, some sweet slightly caramellish malts, but it’s the tar, the peat, the ashes and the iodine that dominates this. Nothing wrong with it brewing wise, it just absolutely loathe peaty smoke. 261111

Bottle. It pours a clear, dark golden body and a small, off-white to beige head. There’s peat on the nose, but not near as much as in the Suffolk Smokey. Fruity and malty too, with a touch of caramel. The flavor is more evident on the peat than the aroma is. Fruityness and maltyness too. Smooth, full-bodied and semi-sweet on the palate, with some bitterness, fruityness and peat in the end. Quite balanced and tasteful, but peat isn’t my thing. 111126
