A superbly balanced beer golden in appearance with peaty smoky aromas and smooth whisky flavours from peated malt. With a measure of English Whisky from St. George’s Distillery in Norfolk, it is rich in flavour and a superb after dinner drink.

Bottle from Waitrose, Farnham consumed in New Frank (Camper) Abbots Shingles campsite, Farnham, Saturday 10th March 2012 Pours gold with a white head, slight smokiness on the nose, sweet and malty in mouth, very peaty but better than many trying this sort of thing. Some light vanilla, smokiness and light fruitiness combining very well. I actually really liked this and at 99p a bottle reduced from £2.35 it was a bargain. A8 A4 T7 P3 Ov15 3.7

Bottled. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of peated malt, caramel and a bit of sweet malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of peated malt, caramel, and sweet malt, leading to a dry smoked finish.

(bottle) Slightly unclear, golden to light-amber colour with a short and slightly tanned foamy head. Distinctively peaty and slightly iodinic malty aroma with notes of burnt wood, vanilla and traces of toffee in the background. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Peat-smoky aroma upfront, again with strong notes of iodine; bitter and faintly sweet malty finish with a delicately salty aftertaste. A fairly simple brew, nevertheless interesting. 08.I.12

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with quickly fading white head. Intense aroma somewhere between peat, whiskey and charcoal, also a displeasing part that smells like fuel. Taste is much better integrated, begins with a sweet and malty component that can stand the intense aroma. A bit watery in the middle part, then the smoke and peat aroma reigns again in a too agressive mode. Suffolk Smokey is way better in my opinion.

3/I/2012 - 50cl bottle @ Klaas' place - BB: 8/XII/12 (2012-2) Thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!

Clear orange beer, small off-white head, unstable, dissipates completely, little adhesive. Aroma: peat, disinfectant, chemical, paint, a bit saline. MF: very light carbon, medium body. Taste: very weird, earthy bitterness, wood, cocoa powder, chemical, aspirin. Aftertaste: alcohol, wood, leather, very dry bitter ending, pretty weird beer, but it doesn't work for me.

Bottled@my birthdaybash@Chriso. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is mild peated notes along with some caramel malts, toffee and mild toasted notes. Flavour is rather similar, but also has some mild floral and grassy notes. Smooth and quite easy to drink.
