A superbly balanced beer golden in appearance with peaty smoky aromas and smooth whisky flavours from peated malt. With a measure of English Whisky from St. George’s Distillery in Norfolk, it is rich in flavour and a superb after dinner drink.

500 ml. bottle that looks like an over-sized, thick whiskey flask - interesting - split this one with Benzai since Belgbeergeek fell asleep - I also feel asleep several times - the ticking urge eventually overcame all natural body functions - clear pale amber with a white head - smell is thick medicinal peat and caramel malts - taste is sweet medicinal, peat heavy, seaweed, caramel malts, candied apple, rubber and bread - medium bodied - ouch - I like this one - pretty similar to Närke McPeat Tribbel - this is not balanced - its crazy - like moonshine crazy

50cl bottle @ hotelroom shared with 77ships. Clear yellow golden color, small white head. Smell a lot of peat, wtf! Did not expect this at all! Taste is so incredibly peaty as well, some smoke and slightly bitter. Low to medium body, low to medium carbo.

50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours deep goldento amber, with a small white head. Surprisingly peaty aroma. Smells like someone poured some of my favourite whisky into the beer. Aroma of peat, whisky and malt. Quite strange, but nice too. Medium sweet and malty with a hint of caramel. Finish is smoky, peaty and lightly bitter.

Medium offwhite head. Clear amber body with light carbonation. Smoky peaty aroma with notes of snuff, earth, and barbecue. Dry-sweet strawy smoky earthy taste with herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry-sweet, and slightly salty, smoky grassy aftertaste with ashy toffee notes. Hmmm. There’s whisky in this? I can taste the smoke, but no more whisky than in Suffolk Smokey. Anyway, an interesting beer, and certainly enjoyable, although I would probably have preferred the smoke flavour in a dark beer. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Drank at home (Feb ’12) poured from the bottle to an English handled pint glass. A clear golden/yellow colour with a large white fluffy head that maintained its presence well throughout drinking. The aroma is all about peated whisky (from St Georges an English distillery), smoke, tar and wood also coming off the glass. Again, as you’d expect from this beer a real peated whisky flavour, think Laphroig in a beer bottle! Lots of smoke therefore, wood, malt, a little herbs and spice in the background. Bitter-dry aftertaste. Mouthfeel was a bit of a let down for me, medium bodied but way too much carbonation in this beer! Overall an interesting beer. I’m a big fan of peated whisky so this flavour worked for me! Would I try again? I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but I would happily raise a glass if someone gave me a bottle.

Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard while waiting for the bar-b-que to get going on Easter Sunday 2012. Clear and light amber in colour: good white head on top. The 500ml bottle (best before 08 Dec 2012) looks great and the beer looked fine too, it’s the taste and smell that I didn’t take too. The nose is all peat smoke and wood fires, as is the taste: I’d never have guessed this was a whisky beer if I hadn’t poured it myself. Ashtray smokey and much too much for my palate: I had trouble finishing the bottle, my wife took a sniff and refused to help, it nearly went on the Bratwursts as a marinade but she didn’t like the sound of that either. I’m sure some people will rave about it, but it isn’t for me.

Peat, wood smoked meat, smokiness and hints of whiskey sans the alcohol. Caramel malt with a mineral bitterness finishes it off.
