Location: 22 oz bottle from Shop Rite - Hoboken, 11/14/10

Aroma: The nose is grassy and hoppy, resin, pine, a touch of orange, and some peppery spice notes
Appearance: It pours a clear golden-orange color with a large frothy off-white head leaving a lot of lace
Flavor: The flavor is subtle sweet up-front, herbal notes, and a lasting hoppy bitterness in the finish
Palate: A medium (plus) bodied brew with a slightly sticky feel, and a lasting tingle on the mouth
Overall Impression: This is a solid enough IPA from SN. I know it is a bit overpriced, but these guy's beers are mostly so reasonable that I tend to let that slide more then I might with some other breweries. Anyway, it is a solid wet hop brew. It won't blow your socks off, but it very solid, and worth trying. Nice stuff.

Bottle "Sierra Estate Homegrown" (green wax dipped). I am skeptical that this should be a new entry. Pours with a clear amber-copper-bronze body with an off-white head. Aroma is somewhat dank, canned pineapple, herbal and citrus hop notes. Also notes of fresh rubber, pepper and newly laid asphalt. Flavors are malty, with orange blossom honey, biscuit, honey malt, light citrus, pepper and hop tea. Lively bubbles, medium dryness, light bitterness. At $11? Come on. A wax dipped IPA. I am sorry, I guess I do not really feel like paying an extra $6 for grain produced in Chico. Sorry.

2008 Bottle (apparently 5th release). Pours with a very large, off-white head with a clearly filteredm amber orange body with AWESOME lacing! Aroma of rubber, dank hops and citrus hops. Taste is earthy hops with a slight hint of caramel, and some tea. Not much else. Mouthfeel is creamy with lightbubbles.

On tap at Brickskeller DC. Pours a clear, burnt orange with a lacing, white head. Sweet, perfumey nose, honey, oranges, earth. Flavor is sweet, malty, light lemon, perfume, crackers. Medium bodied, bitter finish. The most mild of the bunch but balanced.

Crisp copper coloured body with an amber glow and a dense tan head tthat stays afloat for quite a while. Aroma of grassy and floral hops with a good dose of malt, caramel, nuts and earth - very well balanced in the nose. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy fresh hop taste with a pleasant sweetness soon afterwards and a floral and almost too-close-to-actual grassy taste. Aftertaste has a nice malty taste with a good fresh, albeit not high in alpha acids, hoppy taste. Overall, a good fresh hop beer and a very nice idea to the style - but as other people have mentioned - for US$10, a beer that I don’t want to be buying many bottles of. I sampled this 75 cL wax-topped bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Alexandria (Old Town), Virginia on 27-October-2010, sampled at home after running the Marine Corps Marathon 2010 on 31-October-2010.

Sampled as ’Sierra Nevada 20th St Harvest Ale’. Amber coloured body with a nice tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, metal and malt. Medium-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour with a nice malt backbone and a fruity aftertaste. Overall, hoppy and nice - different than the normal harvest! Good to try as well, back a few years ago! I sampled this beer on draught at O’Brien’s in San Diego, California on 23-September-2006.

Pours clear copper color with off white head. Wet hop, grassy aroma. Flavors of fresh cut grass and pine with some caramel. Medium body with average carbonation. Another solid brew by Sierra Nevada but too pricey at $11 compared to their regular lineup.
Earlier Rating: 10/16/2009 Total Score: 3.7
Pours copper color with off white head. Nice pine and grapefruit hop aromas. Pine hop bitterness with a sweet malty finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. Decent, but not as good as their other Harvest beers to me.

Capped 750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a large frothy offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of nice bitter wet green hops with a pale nutty maltiness. The taste is bitter green hops with some tropical and floral notes and a bit of caramel. Medium bodied. Nice beer.
