It’s so great that you like coffee. I just love that about you. Speaking of which, you’re holding an oatmeal coffee stout positively redolent with coffee aroma and flavor. It kind of tastes like a chocolate-covered espresso bean, only drier and more like beer. Nifty fact: we’re one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be extremely persnickety about which beans we buy and how we roast them. Taste the persnicketiness!

Deep dark brown, almost black coloured body with a relatively large, very soapy and quick dying light-brown head that looks like soda. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, oatmeal, light earth, peanuts, caramel and a touch of pure yeast with bread coming out. Medium-bodied; Rich malty flavour that shows vanilla and caramelised sugars up front with a deep peanut buttery bite soon afterwards and a dose of pitted fruits like plums and figs with even a touch of dates and heavy sweetness on the end. Aftertaste is deep, robust, but also nice and refreshing with a lot of nuts, some good robust caramel and grain notes and ending with a good deal of fruits. Overall, a nice pure and complex sweet stout - nothing bending styles here - this is a good beer - true to the style it should be, and especially great on the East Coast! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 05-September-2019 for US$3,49 sampled at home in Washington, just over a month later on 06-October-2019.

[On tap at the first birthday party at the Encinitas outlet.] A glossy black pour with a ring of cream head; aroma of coffee, rich and sweet; sweet coffee taste with an oaty body; then a dry finish with lingering coffee grounds. Good.

Can at home shared with Inoven. Opaque black color with a decent sized light brown colored head. Aroma is malts, roast, earthy. Flavor is malts, again very roasty, coffee, earthy. Fairly thick mouthfeel, fairly soft carbonation. Solid. Unless you can't stand heavily roasted malts. In that case leave it on the shelve!

Blik gedeeld door Benzai. Zwart bier met mooie schuimkraag, jammer dat het schuim snel wegtrekt. Aroma van koffie, karamel en gebrande mout smaak van karamel en geroosterd mout. Nasmaak is iets bitter.
