Blend of sour and imperial stouts aged in bourbon barrels with blueberries and vanilla
Blue BBLs is a special blend of our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with our bourbon barrel-aged sour stout, plus the addition of juicy blueberries, which impart vinous tones. The sour stout’s acidity seamlessly balances the sweet malt character of the imperial stout, and the berries’ tannins amplify the fruity character altogether, exhibiting notes of red wine, blueberry skins, rich toffee, roast, and singed oak.

Thanks Eric for sending this one over. One of the very few Hoarders beers I’ve gotten to try. 75CL enjoyed at 40F but allowed to warm split 2 ways in stemware.
A - Pitch black pour, barely any head formed.
S - The nose is akin to Melange 3. Toffee, chocolate candies with caramel, faded bitterness, maple syrup with the addition of wine notes. I don’t get a blueberry nose.
T - Well darn, this is really incredible! The label and category here on rateBeer had me thinking this was a straight up sour ale. It’s not. It’s like drinking Black Tuesday with a small injection of a mildly funky tart taste that honestly tastes like the tartness you’d get from blueberries alone. Maybe it’ll get more sour with time? Either way, blueberries hit in the middle and finish. Nice malty imperial stout, lots of old ale characters.really great
M - Viscous, thick, barely any carbonation. leaves behind a lot of blueberry, tart malty notes with barrel
O - Very impressed by this beer. Wow.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a dark brown with small tan head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is toffee, wood, blueberry. Medium mouth with nice sweetness, blueberry, toffee, really enjoyed this
