Blue BBLs is a special blend of our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with our bourbon barrel-aged sour stout, plus the addition of juicy blueberries, which impart vinous tones. The sour stout’s acidity seamlessly balances the sweet malt character of the imperial stout, and the berries’ tannins amplify the fruity character altogether, exhibiting notes of red wine, blueberry skins, rich toffee, roast, and singed oak.

Very dark brown, some clumps, minimal tan head. Smell is sweet, some roast, bit of acidity, lots of bourbon. Body is heavy but a tad thin for the ABV, big boozyness. Taste is a mixed bag of tartness, bourbon and light berries. I prefer the fuzzy one.

750 ml. bottle split at Philippe tasting. Black syrup with zero head. Nose is sour ashes, chocolate, coffee grounds, basic Black Tuesday, thin and something oddly sour. Taste is weird sweet & sour that is neither here, doesn’t come together at all very conflicting thin boozy low umami syrup with something sour, berries are weird and drowned out, low carbonation syrup neither here nor there strange messy beer, didn’t work for me, confusing and not successful. Was the soured stout used intentional makes me wonder.

Bottle split at Tipples belated 10K, CBC Islington, 18/12/18 thanks to Kenny. Black with a tan cap. Nose is dark malts, soured berry fruits, spice, cocoa powder, barrel notes, vinous, booze fumes. Taste comprises dried fruits, tangy, mellow funk, hint of chocolate, dried prunes, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a tarte fruit wash. Not bad .. masks the hefty ABV pretty well.

Bottle shared in London - cheers! Pours deep brown with a small, creamy tan head. Novel, super sweet, lots of liquefied berries, mild acidity, blueberries, a little toffee. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, lots of sticky ripe berries, mild lemony tang. Not bad.

Craft Islington Bottleshare. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Amazingly light dark malts, mildly salty. Fair amount of spice. Little dark chocolate. Tangy and almost indivisble combo of mellow blueberry and bourbon. Smooth finish. Blueberry linger. Muscular and quite drinkable.
