Timmermans Tradition Faro is a beer made by adding candy sugar and water to lambic to mellow its acidity. In the 19th century, Faro was very popular in the Brussels area. Various folk traditions were associated with it, and this ambrosial drink flowed abundantly, thanks to its relatively neutral but extremely pleasant flavour. Today, Faro Timmermans is still brewed using the methods and recipes of days gone by, and meets with unanimous approval.
Taste-wise… A sweet beer with a base of lambic enhanced with water and candy sugar, to make it just light enough. The sugared notes predominate, imparting a general flavour which does not intensify on the palate but is wonderfully refreshing.

Bottle thanks to Rasmus40. Slightly hazy amber with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, syrup, little tart and a little barnyard. Flavour is malt, sweet, sugar, syrup, little tart and candy sugar.

"Timmermans Tradition Faro Lambicus", 375-ml-Flasche aus Belgien, 27.9.2012. - Bernsteinfarben. - Spritzig-fruchtig wie ein Lambic aber ohne dessen aggressive Säure, stattdessen angenehm süßsäuerlich. Enthält laut. Etikett auch Apfelsaft, von Kandiszucker ist dagegen nicht die Rede. Sicher kein traditionelles Faro, aber doch angenehm zu trinken. - Note: 3.

Bottle: Deep golden, visible carbonation, small and stable white creamy head, aroma of apples, malic acid with traces of toasted malt; moderate sweet-sour flavour,a bit more on the sweet side; mild sweet-sour finish, combined with a slight tartness. Nice thirst-quencher...

Bottle @ Uncle Chris’ house in Fürth. Picked up in Brugge, I believe. A bit hazy, dark golden orange appearance with a cream colored head that doesn’t last very long. Rich candy sugar, dark fruity, plum, dark grape, mild yeasty, zesty aroma. Well carbonated. Quite sugary, plum, dark grape, mild fig, tangy grapefruit citrusy, light lemon, somewhat sour, quite sweet flavor. I kind of like the dark fruit elements but the sweetness is over the top.

Corked and caged green glass 37.5cl bottle pours deep gold with off white head. The aroma offers up modest sweetness moving into sweet fruity tartness and a thin layer of mustiness. The taste is similar with sweetness, fruity tart sweetness and then moving into Smarties sweet/tart candy notes. The more I drink the more I’m not getting this one. It lacks depth and interest and oddness I enjoy with some examples of this style.
