Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, subtle whiskey, liquorice, chocolate, with some notes of wood. Flavour is above medium sweet with a moderate roasty bitterness in the finish. Body is above medium, no sign of the 10%, perhaps a bit thin for the style. Fairly subtle barrel character here, but the aging has mellowed out the liquorice which I found too upfront in the base beer. I like this one, maybe a bit too subtle for its own good but I vastly prefer this over those iodine-bombs a lot of 'elite' Dutch breweries produce nowadays.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of sweet licorice, chocolate, whisky, coffee, roasted malt and burned caramel. Taste of smooth whisky, boozy licorice, burned caramel, roasted malt, dark chocolate, fruity vanilla, oak and smoke. Boozy finish with a nice whisky character. I like it.

330ml bottle. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, caramel, liqourice, chocolate, dry coffee, light alcohol. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, over-ripe red berry fruit, boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, average sized lightly brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, liquor, roasted malts, dark malts, malt bitter, coffee bitter, bitter. Medium to full body and medium carbonation. Solid. Not that much coffee left though, I expected more.

Pours black, nice darker head. Smell is rather intense on the barrel aspects, but the flavor is more balanced. Not exactly my preffered barrel, but it's still very manageable, and certainly not over the top. The base seems to be a very nice impy, nothing more, nothing less. I would have wished for a bit more body here. Late aftertaste is very nice, to me, all aspects really fall in place here. More so than the actual flavor, even.

Black with creamy head. Aroma has a little alcohol and is quite woody. Very light smokiness. Nice thick texture. Lingering bitterness.
