Master brewer Gerard van den Broek made his ideal wheat beer: Hertog Jan Weizener. This willful wheat beer combines the best of a German weizen and Belgian witbier. The hop, malted wheat, fresh yeast, coriander and orange peel give it a full, fresh flavor and a deep gold color with a slight haze. The secondary fermentation on the bottle creates a fresher and richer taste and aroma.

Bottle, shared by Papsoe. A hazy, yellow-golden beer with a small, off-white to white head. Some banana, a little papery touch, some alcohol and a little caramel in the aroma. The flavor has some citrusy hops in addition to the banana, alcohol and caramel also found in the aroma. Nice bitterness towards the finish. Medium-bodied and effervescent. A quite decent beer, but nothing special either ways. (090514)

Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and wheat, and so is the flavor, leading to a dry and wheaty finish.
