Master brewer Gerard van den Broek made his ideal wheat beer: Hertog Jan Weizener. This willful wheat beer combines the best of a German weizen and Belgian witbier. The hop, malted wheat, fresh yeast, coriander and orange peel give it a full, fresh flavor and a deep gold color with a slight haze. The secondary fermentation on the bottle creates a fresher and richer taste and aroma.

Sweetish weizen that tastes a lot like a belgian witbier. Very refreshing, with some smooth tones of koriander.

Dobre i ciekawe piwo, Piana spora, mnóstwo farfocli czyli osadu drożdzowego w butelce po przelaniu. Ten pszeniczniak był bardziej zbliżony do stylu niemieckiego niż belgijskiego. Ale może ciut mniej kwaskowaty. Polecam bo to dobra pszenica

Looks and tastes more like a German hefeweizen than a witbier. Body is heavy and bready, taste also. Thick, creamy head and hazy straw color. Not sure if this beer knows what it wants to be...

Draft @ Tivoli, Utrecht. Orangée trouble, col blanc crémeux épais. Arôme et palais sur une belle note ester fruitée de banane, froment avec une pointe douce et épicée. Palais reste épais, sur une possible note de clou de girofle, maltée légère et une amertume de fin de bouche discrète. Ne transcende pas le style, mais reste efficace et une bien meilleure alternative à certaine pils.

50 cl. glass on tap @ Het Pleyn in Gendt. Nice hazy yellow looking beer with a firm with head. Faint banana aroma but the taste is indeed more like a Belgian white. Decent whitebeer for a hot afternoon.

Light hazy light amber yellow colour, white head. Light banana aroma, rather sweet, malts and wheat. Light yeast touches. Light sweet malty flavour, light banana, light spices. Light spicy finish.

Poured hazy pale yellow with dissipating white bubbly head. Citrus yeast aroma. Very light mouthfeel, low carbonation.

Second beer in one of my random tasting evenings: brown 30cl bottle, best before 3rd July 2011, drank and reviewed 31st Jan 2011. Poured into a stemmed tulip (Hoegaarden Grand Cru). Cloudy body, dull old gold in colour, clean white crown of bubbles on top. The smells were of yeasts and wheat, as the beer warmed some vanilla and banana esters began to appear, not as strong as many Weizenbiers, but the smells are there. The taste is a mix of typical hefeweizen flavours with a heavier than normal malt content added for good measure. Full bodied and full of flavours, an interesting variation to the German dominated style. Really enjoyed it.
