Tap @ Wildeman. Golden color. Peach and soft herbal notes in the aroma. Sour flavor, slightly herbal, with lime. Dry herbal finish. Good.

Sour ale spiced with 'gruut' (in other words, a secret spice mélange) and pine needles, tap at Wildeman in Amsterdam, thanks Goedele for sharing. Very thin and loose, off-white ring of tiny bubbles rather than a real head, cloudy peach blonde robe with olive greenish tinge. Aroma of pine-scented air freshener, lemon soap and lemon candy ('Napoléon'), spruce shoots, sour apples, starfruit, sorrel leaves, sourdough. Utterly, puckering sour in the mouth, lipsmacking and more sour than lemon juice with an unripe stonefruit-like wryness to it, white vinegar, strong starfruit flavour in the harshly sour way ('blimbing asem', as it is called in Indonesia), medium carb, strong effect of lemon candy near the finish with a sweetish touch thrown in but remaining puckering, lemony sour till the end, refreshened by ethereal juniper leaf and spruce shoot effects from the added pine needles. Bold, outgoing and uncompromising sour with a strong acid burn and a perfumey aroma some might find offensive, but in any case daring and original, which part of me can certainly and genuinely appreciate - have a point for that.

Cask at Wildeman during BrettFest. Amber with no head. Malty and light fruity battery acid from hell. Raging sour with vegetal and herbal edges. Light sweet and massive sour. Insane. Medium body and no carbonation. --- Beer merged from original tick of (collab with) Chorlton Wild Wood on 28 Jun 2018 at 22:43 - Score: 6
