Opulent imperial stout flavoured with maple syrup and tonka beans.

OK, this is pure opulence. Imagine all the delicious things and add them to rich chocolatey stout.

It pours pitch black with thick and firm light brown head that leaves solid lacing on the walls of your glass.

Aroma is sweet vanilla and marzipan with the hint of maple syrup. In flavor intense sweetness of maple syrup, vanilla, mocha is balanced with the bitterness of dark dark chocolate and oak from rum barrels.

Tap @ Molenbar. Black. Licorice, roast, smoke, amandelspijs in the aroma and flavor. Full bodied. Sticky finish. Nice.

Intensiver, trocken malziger Beginn. Süßlich, Ahornsirup, kräutrig, etwas Vanille. Vollmundig, zunehmend alkoholisch, langer würziger Abgang, viel Schokolade. Lecker. 12/11/13/12//12

1/6/19: Tonkamaple, mapletonka. Tonka. Maple. Sweet, thick and boozy, almost too much maple and tonka. Almost. Some barrel blending it nicely together. Fun stuff for sure, but maybe better with colder weather.

28/3/20: Batch no. 1. Age has changed this quite a bit, the tonka got a bit herbal / spicy, almost seems like a lot of cinnamon has been added. Maple sweetness has lessened nicely, making it more balanced. Light barrel, some bitterness and lightly sweet. Tasty!

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 18.02.2021, from Alko, 20190412) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had tonka beans, dark chocolate and sweetness. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, tonka beans, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A way too sweet brew with annoying amount of tonka beans.

15 December 2018. Black Beer Fest, Ieper. Cheers to Anke, Erwin & Ama Deke! Cloudy black with a lasting, thin, dark beige head; some lacing. Intense aroma of cinnamon, coffee bean, cookie dough, 'stroopwafel' (treacle waffle), syrup, caramel, milk chocolate. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, pure syrup, dough & caramel, possible cloying countered by a light spicy bitterness with notes of cinnamon & cookie; a bit coffee-like roasted & chocolatey too; faint sourish note of blackcurrant in the back. Dryish, peppery hoppy finish, toasty, lingering cookie & cinnamon, mocha, warming coffee liqueur alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Very 'pure' & rich in taste, great.
