This is a contemporary remake of a prehistoric braggot that was served at a funeral in Egtved ~3390 years ago. Using the same raw materials - smoked and roasted wheat, honey, wild berries and wild herbs. On the nose smoked and toasted wheat is surrounded by honey with hints of lindenblossom. Further the sweetness of honey is balanced by slight tartness of cranberries and lingonberries, as well as the bitterness of the bog myrtle. The pleasantly warming strength of the beverage together with coffee notes dominate the aftertaste of this archeological drink.

On tap at Labietis Centraltirgus. Nose is honey and nuts. Pours a very dark blackcurrant purple with small white head. Fruity darkness in the mouth, black cherries, blackcurrants, cocoa nibs – even a hint of chillies. Warming finish. Surprisingly drinkable if approached with caution.

Draught @ TCBW’18. Rated on 5.5.2018
Aroma has sweet and toasted sugar. Flavour has sugar, strong root beer tones and spices. Modern mead meets root beer. Not my thing; I still cannot get what is the thing with these meads.

On tap at Labietis Centraltirgus, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of tart red and black berries, with lots of honey, and sweet toffee. Flavour is intense, with tart red and black berries dominating, incorporating the honey wonderfully. It's sweet but honestly, it's not cloying or even excessive - tart and sweet in good balance. Excellent.

Tap at TCBW 2018. Pours dark reddish brown. Aroma is sweet, berries, honey, some herbs and sourness. Flavor follows the nose. Some booze is showing, but not too bad considering ABV. Overall: good.
