Het onwettige kind van een Dubbel en een Stout. Met de intense smaak van gebrande mouten en het verfijnde aroma van karamel.

Bottle at home. Very dark brown with good sized beige head. Sweet red apple, caramel, dates, fresh figs, brown bread and even a bit of rye bread. Basically lots of classic dubbel notes, I don't realkly get much roast that you would expect in a stout. There's a little cardboard and earth in the finish. Solid medium sweet and unde rmedium bitter. Slick medium body with a bit of an oily feel. It's quite alright, but no match for any of the Belgian classics.

Tap at the source. Described to me as a cross between a Dubbel and a Stout. I mainly taste Dubbel. Dark brown with creamy light tan head. Sweet roasted malts, dried fruit, licorice. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body and low carbonation. --- Beer merged from original tick of DAVO Darkness on 15 Nov 2018 at 17:26 - Score: 6

Bottle [thanks to RW80] @ home. Dark red-brown color with a relatively small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, some caramel, some sweetness and some bitterness. Can’t detect much more. Decent to medium body and carbonation. Meh for an Abbey Dubbel, but a drinkable beer.
