Bottle. Clear mid brwon with a large beige head. Aroma of mocha, earth, pepper, lemon. More coffee than chocolate, quite earthy. Salted caramel. Very light bodied for 8%. Relatedly, quite dry for the mocha and slightly brioche-y malt side of things. Dry, earthy and spicy at the end with moderate bitterness. Interesting beer, reminds me of Doctor’s Orders Iron Lung as much as anything.

(330ml bottle from Systembolaget shared) Pours dark brown with a small tan head and spotty lace. Aroma of dark caramel, cocoa, toasted nuts, light spent coffee grains and a bare hint of herbal hops. Flavour follows, semi-sweet and malty with a light to moderate roast character, some cacao bean and coffee, a bit of dark bread, yeast brings light spice, slight bittering on the finish. Medium bodied, light carbonation, no hint of booze. This is an ok if unexciting dark ale, but I really didn’t get anything from it that made me think of a black IPA.

brown colour, large, creamy beige head; aroma of cocoa, some toffee, herbal notes, and some nuts; taste of cocoa, burnt sugar, herbal liqueur, syrupy and roasted notes; good black IPA, though a bit one-dimensional (i.e. only the burnt-coffee-cocoa line is in the front, nothing really IPA-ish notes)
