Mr. Cocoa is the strongest beer we have ever produced at Fjäderholmarnas Brewery. The beer style is called Imperial Stout, which for us means a double mashing with very generous amounts of hard roasted malt. When the beer has fermented it then rests in the tank and, at this point, we add a generous helping of cocoa nibs. This stylish combination gives a full-bodied, yet humble beer with palpable tones of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate.

Bottled. Black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is rasted, some sweet malts, dark cocolate, cacao, rye bread, nuts and some mild rye bready tones. Flavour is coffee, chocolate, some roasted malts, liquorice, mild alcohol as well as some nutty tones. Good sipper. Actually almost nicer unbarrel aged, although getting the same rating score.

Bottle shared courtesy of Maakun. Black with light tan head. Sweet deep roasted chocolate malts, ash, tar, satan’s semen, salmiak, some delicious soft and creamy rubber tire, molasses, soy sauce, oyster sauce, something nuttiness and something inky seaweedy also reprazent. Big sweet and deep bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. --- Beer merged from original tick of Fjäderholmarnas Mr. Cocoa on 08 Apr 2019 at 21:40 - Score: 8

Cacao nib-flavoured 'impy' by a Swedish brewery I hadn't heard of so far, bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm. Thick and creamy, brownish pale beige, moussy, good looking head, jet black robe - this is how any decent imperial stout ought to look. Dense bouquet of hot chocolate sauce prepared with cognac, wet toast, black chocolate, cigar tobacco, molasses, 'blood'-like iron, cappuccino, leather, chocolate truffles, hint of beef stock. Sweetish, condensed onset, candied dates, light porcini-like umami note, underlying roasted grain sourishness, very thick, fat and oily mouthfeel, softly carbed. Thick nutty, molasses-like, chocolate-syrupy body, sweet but evolving to quite firm roasted coffeeish bitterness accentuated by black cocoa, highlighted by a rum-like, heating yet not unpleasantly wry alcohol glow. Bitter black chocolate aspect lingers for a long time - deliciously desserty. Thick and generous 'old school' imperial stout with the firm, edgy roasted bitterness I often miss in modern 'impies' (even ignoring the current pastry stout hype). An unexpected gem, really.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 6 Oct 2017) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, cacao, black rye bread and coffee. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, cacao, dark chocolate, liquorice and a generous cacao bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a touch of sweetness. Solid and well made imperial stout with lots of dark chocolate. Very nice.
