Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a thick beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of coffee, orange, hazelnut, ash and dark chocolate. Flavour of prunes, coffee and vanilla. Full body with a creamy texture. Light fizz. Rich and bitter - a great Imperial Stout. As a side note, Weird Beard brew the best looking beers out there.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Ariel. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee beans, a bit vegetal, lactose, chocolate. Roasty flavor with coffee, some sweetish lactose, a chocolate touch, and a drier bitterish finish with an alcoholic note. Medium-bodied.

Atypical milk stout in having coffee and a high ABV - so the classification as an ’imperial stout’ here seems indeed more appropriate. Very dark chestnut brown colour bordering on black, with a relatively dense and medium sized, eventually thinning but nevertheless completely retaining, light beige head leaving a creamy lacing on the edge of the glass. Aroma of meat stock, coffee beans, bourbon, molasses, ruby port, candied orange, red apple, Irish coffee, caramel, roasted chestnuts, perhaps a suggestion of chocolate milk, hint of cloves and something vaguely sulphuric, but too weak to become disturbing. Taste starts with a subdued sweetishness of candied fruits, accompanied by a fruity sourishness; soft carbo, full and thick mouthfeel yet less oily than I am used to from an imperial stout and far less creamy than I am used to from a milk stout; layered malt profile in the middle, thickly caramelly and a bit nutty, nowhere overly sweet, with a chocolatey touch and a deeply roasted bitter character gaining strength in the finish, where it is further supported by peppery hops (providing a very late, deep, tonic-water-like supplementary bitterness), retronasal yeasty spiciness and a fairly strong presence of alcohol, which burns a bit on the tongue and warms the throat, but not too obtrusively. Aftertaste is persistently bitter, both from peppery and lightly resinous hops and, more so, the coffeeish roastedness. Tasty and fulfilling stout, but perhaps a tad too sourish in the onset and lacking the thick, creamy body one would expect from the style.

Bottle at Weird Beard brewery, Hanwell, London. A black coloured pour with a medium beige/tan head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, slightly bitter. Decent Imperial Stout.

Bottle.Black color, smallish dark brown head with plenty of lacing. Almost lactose sweet, milk chocolate (O’boy) drink, cold coffee scent, some green bell peppers. Sweet, alcohol, strange bitterness, coffee taste, milk like. Much warming alcohol. Bitter, dry chocolate, roasted aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.Parts here and there don’t impress, but yet it it strangely enjoyable and intriguing, hence overall score adds up a bit more than it "usually" would for me.

Bottle@yesper - black pour with tan head. Roasted malty aroma and taste, chocolate, caramel, lots of coffee, very nice.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is coffee herbal. Mild fruity, toasted malty and caramelish to chocolate. Dense coffee. Bitter and lingering chocolate malty finish.
