An amped up version of our Black Perle, it is more of everything: creamier, slightly sweeter, richer and more chocolate-y. It’s a richer beer but we suitably add more Hasbean coffee to compliment the roasted flavours of the darker malts used.

The flavour is moderate sweet, slight bitter with a sweet roasted malt, creamy caramel, coffee, alcohol liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a bubbly mouthfeel.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and dry, fine carbonation. Dry malt cream. Good earthy coffee. Touch of lactose and a trace of spice. The tang and the coffee start to grind a little. Okay.

Bottle at home. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, earth, coffee grounds, treacle and plenty of umami. The taste is bitter, rich roast, espresso coffee, some acidity, earth, prickly alcohol heat, pepper, lactose and chocolate with a lingering roasty finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Pretty punchy stuff. I like, but I’m not in love with it.
