This Vietnamese coffee version of Speedway Stout is and continues to be AleSmith's most popular variation of the ever-growing Speedway Stout collection. Since 2012 we have been adding this blend of four Vietnamese coffees, known in Vietnam as cà phê sa đá, to our popular imperial stout. The coffee beans were slowly roasted at low temperatures and then brewed by AleSmith with a traditional phin-style filter that gently percolates water through the ground coffee. The result is an intensely aromatic and bold tasting coffee that complements the notes of chocolate and roast in this massive stout.

On tap @ Ghetto Something. Aroma of caramel, coffee, chocolate, nuts and some alcohol. Pours almost black color with thin creamy light brown head and fair lacing. Tastes of sweet and rich roasted malt and coffee, chocolate, vanilla, hazelnuts and licorice, mouthfeel is smooth and warm with well hidden ABV. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Good morning Vietnam...

(Keg at Panema Kallio, 20190312) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, dark chocolate and coffee with cream. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, coffee with cream, sweetness, dark chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A delicious burnt brew with sweetness, and coffee and dark chocolate notes.

Tap at Fakin. Pitch black and a tiny tan head. Lovely, creamy milk chocolate going towards caramel, with coffee clear underneath. Chocolate pudding-like. Very little to no alcohol. Classy! Excellent creamy milk choco-coffee notes in the taste, very drinkable for 12%. Chocolate milk made beer. Not as coffee-like as I expected, but I don't mind, this is definitely cool. Ends dry which keeps it drinkable. So clean! This is excellent by all means!
