Smells like an old leather coat. Pours a dark brown, slightly red with just a little lacy tan head. Taste of caramel, some booze. Sweet, malty, sugar, toffee, caramel. Ok, nothing special. I had this today; On draft @ Sunset Grill and Tap, Allston, MA.

Pours a really dark brown with garnet highlights when held to light, smallish creamy tan head dissipates quickly to a cap. Smells of molasses and burnt sugars, caramel, smoke. Very malty, very nice aroma. Taste is molasses burnt sugars and toffee up front with a touch of alcohol mid way followed by some raisins and a bit of spice in the finish. Sweet sticky mouthfeel, syrupy full body, medium carbonation. Nice Wee heavy, a little dark, a bit sweet, but very nice nonetheless.

On tap at brewery. Pours a reddish brown mahogany. Tastes of caramel malt, chocolate, plums, smoke, and some peat. Since I am a big fan of Islay Single Malt me and peat get along fabulous. Honestly this brewery was soo fun to visit.

12 oz. bottle. Pours pitch black with a very thin brown head. The aroma is musty and sweet, with notes of toffee, caramel, smoke, and dark fruits. The flavor is well balanced between the strong malt sweetness and the noticable but secondary hop profile. The palate is heavy and flat. Overall, a good example of the style, and very tasty.
