Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of daknole. Pours an orangey brown with an off-white head. Sweet aroma of nuts, caramel and overripe, dark fruit. Rather solid body, sweet almost syrupy dark fruits, toffee and brown sugar. Hardly any bitterness. Solid and well crafted. 090710

bottle - Pours very dark amber and has a rich, malty aroma with some dark fruit. The flavor is very sweet with roast caramel and dark fruit coming through nicely. It’s full bodied and smooth, finishing with the promised warming characteristic. Well done.

Tap at Blind Tiger. A delicious Scotch Ale. Pours a dark amber with a medium, white head. Aroma is malty, with notes of caramel and scotch. Flavor is quite sweet, with plenty of rich caramel, some butter, hints of fruit, finishing with faint bitterness. Without a doubt has that Scotch Ale character, and here it is beautiful. Medium in body with average carbonation, lightly syrupy. Nice!

A very nice beer, the way I like my "wee heavy." Thick, sweet, and malty. A little salt, and lots of earth character. Good, thick palate. A little fruit and red meat in the flavor. Muddy brown appearance and a moderate palate.

not quite as good as i was hoping for, this is a great brewer and was really excited to try this one. just not as full bodied as i was expecting. some nice roasted malts, but was a little too carbonated, tasted almost macro-ish to be honest. too bad.

Pour is an almost black with a small tan head. Aroma is nice. It smells dirty but in a good way. Lots of earthy malts with a bit of smokyness. Flavor is more of the same maybe a less on the smokyness but the earthy malts are still there. Leaves a little anise on the tounge after the swallow. This was very nice.

Bottle pours a deep dark redish brown. Murky and peaty. Hardly any head and just a ring of light tan lacing. Lovely aroma of dark malts and pitted fruit and a bit of sweet cinnamon spice. and ginger bread. A little grape jelly too. Flavor is all that and a little more roast than I expected. Almost porterish but w/o the astringent bite. Sweet and malty. A slight earthy. Some tanned leather as well and a hint of coffee. Not heavy, but soft and smooth. Lightly carbonated. it’s been a while since I has a Scotch Ale but this i think is one of my favorites.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a huge brown head that produced minimal lacing. The aroma was woody, smoky and roasty. The flavor was malty and woody with notes of smoke, nut, dry malts, port wine and raisins. The finish was long, malty, fruity and woody. Fairly full bodied. Solid.
