Hoss is based on the Märzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt notes, with some hints of cherry and dark notes, dominate while the unique addition of rye imparts a slightly earthy, spicy character. Hoss finishes crisp and dry, and its brilliant red-orange color is a toast to the late-summer sunsets that make the perfect backdrop for this beer.

Pour is a bright amber with a bone white head. Aroma is burnt malts with a bit of hops and spice. Flavor is some earthy malts but finishes with a soapyness. The aftertaste really kills this one. Maybe an old bottle but i think even fresh this would still be middle of the road.

12 oz bottle. Poured an amber color, with a hint of red. Aroma is malty, with touches of grain. Flavor is pretty smooth, a nice rye flavor. A pretty good Oktoberfest type beer.

Bottle. A slightly orange body with a finger of dense foam is a good enough start. Things fall off a bit in the nose, however, as this is fairly light on aromas. A bit of a fruit presence and a little malt are all that I can pick up on and not even enough to really do them any justice with a stab at a more concrete description. My first impression of the flavor is that it is a cloyingly sweet mess with a little bit of a rye presence in the finish. Honey and bread malt with a heavy load of apple and orange and a bit of a rye sharpness at the tail end.

Bottle: Light copper pour with a modest beige head. Lots of sticky lacing. Smells like a rye ale, um er ah lager... kinda bready and dry, lightly floral. Faintly sweet. Once tasted it proved to be one of the richer flavors for a rye beer that I can recall. Sweet malt, light florals, bready, dry, and of course that spicey twinge known as rye. Would have kicked ass with a rueben.

Has a candied hop smell. Pour is cloudy light iced tea, no sign of pale yellow here. No gunk on the bottom of the bottle, tho I expected it. Taste is hoppy in an ale-y kinda way, no lie! Barely any carbonation. Not sure how this was catted in the octoberfest style, weird. Slight bitter hop finish, but its dull. Of course with its hoppy forte its gonna score high on this site, considering all the hoppy ale lovers present. Comes across more like an ale.

Bottle. Poured an orangish amber with a small white head. Aroma was full of malts leading to notes of grain, bread and a bit of sweet cereal. Flavor was malty as well with similar notes. I failed to pick up much rye on the nose or tongue.

12oz bottle pours deep clear copper with short lived white head. The first impression of the nose and flavor is, Lager-y. In the aroma I get vague sugary sweetness becoming slightly hard cherry candy mixing with slight caramel malts and an inviting level of grains on a deep pull. The taste begins sweet with a mix of caramel malts, a bit of crystal, sweet sugary floral hops and some bright red cherry candy. By midway it picks up a bit of rye spiciness that can burp up with a pleasing sensation of aroma and taste. It sweetens out into the finish with the addition of a thin layer of dates and prunes.

pours amber-orange, white head Aroma is malty with hints of floral hops and rye. Flavor, soapy hops, rye, malt, some spices. Crisp rye, full body with a light touch of hops. End sis malty/caramel, spicy with a right balanced finish that make this one a nice märzen a nice rye/mat/hop finish that complement each other.

Salty, spicy, malt aroma with traces of cherries. Clear orange, medium yellow head. Bland malt flavor, tinny, with light spiciness. Generic bitter finish. Weak overall.
