Pours dark ruby red with big off white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, malts. Smell is very hoppy. Flavor starts sweet and matly and finishes with big hop flavor. Hops seem overpowering for a barley wine. Very good beer, but if you are looking for true barley wine flavor look elsewhere.

I’m not good enough to rate this beer. Rather rude, will not purchase again. taste of soap and turpentine. No detectable carbonation. Thick and syrupy. Orange color with a nice creamy retaining head. Mild hop aroma with pine and spruce floral hops. Not as enjoyable as Rock Art Ridge Runner Ale. About on par with Ottos Old Fugget Barleywine and North Country Embalmer or any decent BW.

Bottle as shown. Pours a murky copper color with a small off white head that dimishes quickly. The aroma is a strong hops with grapefruit.Decent lacing on this one. The taste is a bitter grass with a sweet light malt finish. An excellent barley wine from Avery.

Bottle Pours a clear redish amber with a very large light yellowish creamy head. The sweet brown sugary fruity malt aroma is complimented by some hops. Flavor is plenty bitter and the woody semi sweet malts hang around as well. Ahh 100IBUs...that would explain it. Slight grassy biterness, possilby would benefit from sitting a while. Fairly hot. Long slow bitter trailer. I woul dlike to try a 2 year old bottle.

Older bomber with a plain silver seal and different label than the newer bottle I have which has a different label and seal; Nose of flowery hops, caramel, and raisiny plums; lightly hazed ochre color with a medium beige head that laces nicely; flavor of caramel, raisins, and hop bitterness. Not great but a good BW. Says cellarable for three years and this one is over a year old and still has plenty of hops.

(Bottle, Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 3 Aug 2007) Dark amber colur with ruby notes, frothy off-white head. Fruity, very hoppy nose with grape fruit and pine needles, solid underlying malt. Fruity taste with grapefruit, pine needles, slightly rubbery hints of hops. Very hoppy barley wine with solid malt base and distinct caramel character. Quite brilliant actually.

Bomber. The aroma is somewhat reminiscent of Nyquil. Very sweet, with a floral, medicinal hop. Very pretty reddish amber color with a beige head that collapsed. Full bodied, with creamy carbonation. Strong malt sweetness with a heavy dose of arguably grapefruit hop. Quite a burn down the gullet. Pretty darn hoppy. Seems to be all kinds of light fruit flavors mixing in. The finish is both a trifle sweet and quite bitter. The alcohol hits rapidly. Don’t drive after this one.
