This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover’s delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel malt backbone. This is a serious beer for serious beer aficionados. Oink!

Well blended bouquet of grapefruit, marigold, and caramel. Copper with a medium yellow head, minimal lacing. Sweet then bitter, good balance. Dates, rose hips, honeycomb, and grapefruit rind. Woody apple core finish. Silky mouthfeel. Excellent! Great with hot, spicy food.

Bottle. Poured amber with an off-white head. Aroma was sweet and malty. Flavor was nice with sweet caramel flavors with the slightest citrus flavor.

Bottle. It pours a reddish-golden body under a beige head. Hop driven aroma with pinecones, resin and a tiny fluorine touch. Not much maltyness to report. The flavor is maltier, with sweetness and beefstock to give some balance to the piney, resiny hops. Getting quite bitter towards the finish. Full-bodied. Lasting bitter finish. A lovely one-hour beer, quite challenging, but not to the extreme. (081031)

22 oz bottle. Pours slightly reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is a nice balance of citrus and spice hops and caramel scents. Flavor includes grassy and citrus hops, some caramel flavors. Fairly strong bitterness. I wish the caramel flavors stood up to the grassy hops a little better here. Good lacing. Some alcohol in the finish, along with a bit too much lingering bitterness and grassiness in my opinion. Kind of wish the flavor had been as balanced as the aroma suggested it would be. Might be better with some age on it.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy to murky orange with a lacing orange head. Dry woody and liqourice like hops aroma, solid. Flavour is subdued sweet at first and followed by a dry woody and liqourice pinehops flavour. Somewhat too brutal yet not without a certain inviting tastyness to it. Ends dry and bitter, lingering liqourice and wooden notes. Lacks some refinement - somewhat too brutal.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu on 2008-05-15) Dark amber colour. Bit hazy. White medium-sized head. Lots of malts and Finnish Easter pudding in nose. Full and dryish palate. Finnish Easter pudding in taste, too. Hardly any sweetness at all, surprising. Hops begin to taste stronger when beer got warmer.

Bomber bottle..Red dominated copper, with a thin beige head...aroma is hops--floral malty grapefruit...very bitter--untraditional barely wine...overbearing with citrus, and much grapefruit....malty and just the characteristics of an IPA...a disappointment for this style...relabel the beer and it may sell better, or at least without disappointment...I gave it a 10 just for the bad marketing....certain guidelines are expected of certain styles, this beer does not apply. I believe the pigs on the label are flying to get away from this odd creation.on a later note...im told this style is ok...I guess not for me...I dont care for hops in my barley wine...so I bumped up overall from a 10 to a 13..and flavor from a 5 to a 6...no offense avery
