This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover’s delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel malt backbone. This is a serious beer for serious beer aficionados. Oink!

Bottle @ Hotelroom, Denver. Pours dark golden with a offwhite head, good lacing. Aroma of malt, dark dried fruit, caramel, toffee and some hops bitterness. Taste is much like aroma, bitter hops and sweeter caramel malts, fruit- tasty. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, lasting bitter finish. Nice and very drinkable BW. 210211

amber color, off white head with light golden lace. aroma, pine hops, caramel malts, lots of grape. flavors, boozy, musty bitter tropical fruits, thick palate, lingering fresh hoppy flavors, caramel and toffee. This one is hoppier than what I had in mind for the style, leaves a nice candy/licorice mild aftertaste alongside a lot of nice hops.

On tap at The Taphouse, pours dark amber. Aroma of caramel / sticky toffee, piney hops and a nice semi-sweet malty backbone. Wonderful barley wine.

Draught. Clear reddish brown, some white head. Aroma is dominated by hops with a hint of spice. Palate is full bodied, oily, almost sticky, with modest carbonation. The flavour is interesting and unusual for the style as it has a surprising amount of hops for a barley wine. This is balanced to some extent by sweet malt, dark caramel, molasses and some spice in the start. It finishes with a hoppy bitterness reminiscent of an IPA. Overall, an interesting take on a barley wine. I often find them challenging in that their flavour is so remote from "normal" beer. This one drags the style towards IPA, but in its own way is quite challenging too.

Big offwhite head. Ruddy body. Fruity honeyish toffee and caramel aroma with floral sherry aroma. Dry-sweetish papery honey alcoholic taste with peppery spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dry chalky alcohollic milky peppery citric aftertaste. Quite harmonic. Good and drinkable. Obviously cellared, and the better for it. (0.65l bottle.)

Bottle. Very hoppy american style barley wine. Almost an DIPA. Bitter. Not as complex as you wish it to be.
