The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled 7/28/2011. Pours moderately cloudy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Good spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big lemon, pear, peach, biscuit, nuttiness, pepper, herbal, earth, floral, honey, clove, light banana, and yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity, balance, and strength. Taste of pear, peach, biscuit, nuttiness, pepper, herbal, floral, earth, honey, light clove, and yeast spices. Lingering notes of light fruits, biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, earth, honey, clove, and light yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Very well balanced flavors with nice complexity; no cloying sweetness at all after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly slick and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian strong golden ale. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; extremely smooth to sip on. Really enjoyed this one. Avery does a really nice job on many of their Belgian styles.

650ml Bottle - Hazy gold/amber with a small head. Malt, spice, dried apricot, hops and yeast in the aroma. Fruity, sweet and spicy taste with notes of ginger, cinnamon, yeast, apricot, lemon and honey. A lot of body and plenty of flavour. Very easy to drink for the strength.

Very slight haze on this amber - gold beer. Little white head. Light dry palate. Spicy light malt, a little aniseed alcohol then a honeyish finish. More light aniseed and spice in the aftertaste. Not bad.

22oz bomber poured into a snifter. Pours a cloudy orange with about a finger of off-white head. Lots of citrus, with some good light fruits. Taste is light sweet. Dried apricots, light fruit and citrus. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, I like this beer...a lot. It recently got pulled from my area so this will probably be the last one I’ll have for a while.

65 cl bottle @ home, bottled 11.03.2011
Aroma is sweet with apricot, some peach and american hops. Flavour is too sweet with apricot, peaches and some spices. Becomes even more sweet with sugar towards the end of the glass. Too sweet and a bit sticky but good anyway.

650ml bottle from Systembolaget

Bottled on 11.03.2011 - Pours orange with a bubbly head. Aroma has notes of fruits, spices, malts and sweet caramel. Taste is sweet and malty with notes of apricose, peach and other exotic fruits. Finish is sticky and sweet. Alcohol burns through slightly. Okay, a bit too sweet and slightly unbalanced.

Shared bottle at RBNAG 11. Deep golden body with almost no head. Body feels oily. Aroma of sweet malt, alcohol, citrus fruit and spices. Flavor is very sweet malt, fruit, spices and a bit vinous. Typical strong Belgium style. Thick body. Sweet aftertaste, some bitterness and warming alcohol.
