Yes, this is the beer you've heard so much about!
Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, roasty and complex. This Ageable Ale clocks in at 15-20% ABV and has a depth more in line with a fine port than with a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer.
World Wide debuted in the winter of 1999, and the staying power of this brew is undeniable. Like Fort and 120 Minute IPA, World Wide Stout only gets better with age (more on aging beers here). After some time in your beer cellar, the heat of the booze fades into the background and the port notes and roastiness take over.
World Wide goes great with (or as!) dessert. Share one with someone you love.
Admin Note: This entry is for standard World Wide Stout that clocks in at 15% - 20% abv.

#150 RIS. Thx! to Kraddel. 355 ml. bottle split. Darkish brown, blackish, little head, that quickly goes to the sides, mocha. Cheaper chocolate, chocolate cake in the nose, sweet, brown sugar, light liqueur, roasted malts, slight tang. Taste is sweet, light booze, touch liqueur, roasted malts, touch burned grains, thick brown sugar, bitterness, stong liquorice, light booze but certainly not overly alcoholic, hides it ABV not badly, touch molasses, warming, black chocolate, bitter,… Touch thicker. As previous DFH, interesting concept that doesn’t really translate into an added value for the beer.

(Bottle. Thanks to Håkan) Pitch black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of liquorice, soy sauce, ashes, sweet espresso, burnt sugar, dark chocolate and vinous hints of alcohol. Malty, roasted taste with liquorice, soy sauce, black rye bread, raisins, dark treacle, strong sweet espresso, port wine and a vinous finish with a burning alcohol glow and a nice roasty bitterness. Full body (I’m not kidding), with a slightly oily texture. Fairly sweet. Despite it’s strength it’s excellently balanced and taste doesn’t come close to 18%. But it’s really heavy stuff. Lovely beer! (Rating #5000)

Bottle @ Monk’s Porterhouse. Black colour with a small dark head. Sweet aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and a hint of alcohol. Rather sweet rich flavour of roasted malt, port, some spices, chocolate and a bit of alcohol.

330ml bottle from Whole Foods Columbus Circle, NY
Bottled on 2010 D - Pours pitch black with a small white head. Strong aroma of roasted malts, alcohol, smooth chocolate notes, hints of vanilla and soy. Taste is strong, surprisingly smooth with notes of roasted malts, alcohol, soy sauce, syrup and chocolate. Finish is warming and mildly roasty with notes of sweet syrup, wood and vanilla. Nice, surprisingly well balanced and tasty extreme stout.

I drank one of these and a 120 minute to celebrate my birthday and almost burned down my apartment a few hours later. I had to air out my apartment when it was below freezing so the lingering smoke smell went away. This is definitely a beer that I either really like and find warming like a port, or a bit like acetone. Very odd.

Sampled from bottle thanks to Countbeer and Fonefan. Almost pitch black, no head. Smell and taste malts, some barrel aging, alcohol, sweetness, vanilla. Superb! Full body, perfect carbonation.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle shared at a private beer tasting. Pours a dark almost black with a thin tan head. Intense prune and raisin aroma. String alcohol taste aling with the dark red fruits.

Bottle courtesy of Iphonphan. A dark mahogany pour with a thin tan head. An ideal beer for anyone who is ill. This beer is guaranteed to blow away the cobwebs and then some more. You can smell the alcohol in the aroma and its very evident in the flavour. This beer burns and dominates the flavour more than I would like. A special beer, but I question the need for such a high alcohol content.
