The term ‘Tripel’ originated from Belgian Brewers using 3 times the amount of malt to brew a beer - so that’s exactly what I do!

Unsurprisingly this creates something pretty special… a 9% abv beer which is complex, robust, yet with a smooth elegant finish. You could be forgiven for thinking that it’s going to be too strong for me, but balanced with a little residual sweetness, this becomes a delightful drop, which is my personal favourite.

Bottle from Beer : St Albans. Appearance - golden and hazy. Creamy white head. Nose - candied lemon, light banana and toffee. Taste - banana and toffee with tangy, dried citrus. Palate - medium bodied, tangy sweet middle and finish. Overall - decent example of the style.

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a burnt copper with a fast dissipating white head. Aroma is fruity, bubble gum. Taste is super fruity, very high potent alcohol burn.

27/5/2020. Bottle bought direct from the brewery. 9.5% abv. Pours clear hazy amber with a large fluffy white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, fruit, hops, yeast. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, creamy texture, some foaming to the carbonation. Rich, satisfying, slow burner. Nice.
