From old notes. Visited the brewpub in the Summer of 2000. Cask. Chestnut coloured. Nice and strong, fruity esters, sweetish. Not unlike Theakston's Old Peculier for instance..

Cask handpull at Coach & Horses, Norwich. Deep chestnut, lasting beige head. Full tasting strong ale with some toasty malts, lots of rich dark fruit. Some hop on finish. The best of the Chalk Hill beers I’ve had.

Dark reddish coloured ale with good clarity, but no head. Hop fruitiness in aroma is very light. Taste of dark fruit that turns into a slight bitter finish. Medium bodied (half on cask at The Coach and Horses, Norwich 25.09.2006).
