From cask at Coach & Horses, Norwich, Norfolk, on tour to 22 southern counties with OGJ and EE 08.01.19. Clear copper. White head. Sweet aroma and taste of old jam, cherry compote, prune compote and wood. Well-balanced with bitterness..

From old notes. Visited the brewpub in the Summer of 2000. Cask. Chestnut coloured. Nice and strong, fruity esters, sweetish. Not unlike Theakston's Old Peculier for instance..

Cask@Coach & Horses, Norwich. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, herbal and also has some mild sweet maltyness. Flavour is fruity, wooden, caramelly and quite herbal. Fruity and wooden long aftertaste.

Cask handpull at Coach & Horses, Norwich. Deep chestnut, lasting beige head. Full tasting strong ale with some toasty malts, lots of rich dark fruit. Some hop on finish. The best of the Chalk Hill beers I’ve had.

Dark reddish coloured ale with good clarity, but no head. Hop fruitiness in aroma is very light. Taste of dark fruit that turns into a slight bitter finish. Medium bodied (half on cask at The Coach and Horses, Norwich 25.09.2006).
