I had it earlier today as I don’t want to take caffeine late at night. Coedo x Horiguchi Roasters H Sumatera Coffee Ale 6% A lovely bright mahogany brown/deep amber with a fragrant coffee aroma. The taste is sweet coffee and honeyed biscuit malt with toasted notes, mild toffee and even hints of tobacco leaf. Not the typical coffee beer which tends to be a stout but still quite good.

Coffee, nice. Surprisingly interesting for Coedo.

14.08.2019, tap (last half sample from the barrel) @ Y.Y.G. Brewery:
Small slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head, cloudy golden color. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish floral, leafs, flowers, hay, dusty hops, moss, minerals, alcohol, harsh citrus peel, fruit stones, bark, perfume. Taste is harsh sour-ish floral, weeds, sour grass, bark, harsh hops, sawdust, fruit stones, harsh citrus peel, minerals, alcohol, flowers, perfume, cardboard, soil. Longlasting harsh bitterness, dry medical mouthfeel. Meh!

medium amber color. Looks like a pale ale but the nose is very deceiving with only freshly roasted coffee notes and no real pale ale notes. Very interesting as it’s not the typical green pepper character. The mouth show good hop character but the roasted coffee dominates. I get a bit more green pepper in the mouth than nose. Bitterness is fairly low. It’s interesting for what it does but not for what it is
